Ruby – $2.5 Million/Kg

Rubies are corundum gemstones ranging from a blood-red color to orange-red, brown-red, purple-red, and pink-red. They are used in jewelry making and are the hardest gemstones after diamonds, setting them as perfect everyday wear. Compared to other corundum gems like sapphires and emeralds, Rubies are the rarest to find. This explains why a fine quality ruby is one of the most expensive gemstones in the world.
A ruby’s origin and color will dictate its value. Myanmar is especially known for producing these premium gems. While Asia has been chronicled as the major ruby gems producer, there are other reservoirs like Australia, the United States, and of late, Africa.
