Janis Joplin Takes The Stage

Singer Janis Joplin was one of the most anticipated of all the acts due to her performance at Woodstock. The festival also heavily advertised her as one of the headliners. Her powerful and gritty vocals were a huge hit amongst many, and her captivating stage aura.

Joplin closed out her one-hour set with her encore song, “Ball and Chain.” Many naysayers were critical of her moment at Woodstock, though. This could be due to her being overwhelmed to play in front of thousands. It was still an electrifying memory that will never be forgotten.
