Sly & the Family Stone Taking Off

Funk-rock band Sly and The Family Stone propelled to fame with their hit single “Everyday People” in 1968. The lyrics were a plea for peace, and the song resonated with their fans during a time of unrest, becoming hugely successful. They were one of America’s most prominent bands by the time they were due to perform at Woodstock.
Due to the rain, the band also ran into some on-stage technical difficulties, but their thrilling performance and energy kept the crowd grooving. They took to the platform late on Saturday night, going into Sunday.
