Jerry Garcia was the founding member, lead guitarist, and vocalist of The Grateful Dead rock band. They were due to perform late on Saturday night, with many fans looking forward to their time on stage. However, things did not go according to plan.

The sound engineer and the band had ingested lots of recreational drugs prior to their set and ran into some technical difficulties. They seemed pretty lost on stage before realizing the PA system was not functioning properly. The Grateful Dead put this down as a disaster and refused to use any of their live material for the Woodstock albums.
