Sha Na Na Performing Teen Angel

Sha Na Na gained fame for performing in New York City in 1969. Their rock and roll doo-wop take on music garnered attention from music promoter Bill Graham. They started opening up for big rock acts like The Grateful Dead. Woodstock promoter Michael Lang caught one of these shows and invited them to perform at the event.
Their golden outfits were a stark contrast to the other outfits of the performers. One song to remember was their funny rendition of Mark Dinning’s “Teen Angel.” The tongue-in-cheek version cracked up the audience with laughter.
