Most people know the kinds of food that different animals, especially household pets, like to consume. Just as dogs like their meat and bones, cats prefer things like fish and milk. According to ASPCA, cats are obligate carnivores, meaning their survival depends on consuming meat.

Because of their carb-density and calorie count, bananas are low on the cat treat list. While bananas are not toxic to felines, they can cause stomach upsets, so it may be linked to an innate sense of distrust. Cat Health mentions that a cat’s “sweet” taste bud receptors are weak, so bananas are not a natural choice.
