The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found that elderly drivers, those 70 and up, have a lower crash risk and a lower risk of serious injury or death in a collision than younger drivers. It’s been hypothesized that this is due to the fact that cars are getting safer and the average life expectancy of the elderly is rising.
