Tonya Harding – Winter Olympics

Tonya Harding began skating when she was just three years old and was enrolled in lessons at four by her mother. Born in Oregon to a working-class family, she knew that she had always wanted to skate and became the first American woman to achieve a Triple Axel in competition and the second woman in the sport’s history to do so.
She was widely known as one of the best skaters of the late ’80s and ’90s but was bitterly disappointed when she finished 4th place in the 1992 Winter Olympics.
