Sonny and Cher – From Friends to Couple to Enemies

Here’s an early photo of the singing duo Salvatore “Sonny” Bono and Cherilyn Sarkisian, aka Cher, who rose to fame together. However, their relationship saw many twists and turns over the year, and while at one point they were America’s sweethearts, later they became bitter rivals. But this photo is before all that. Sonny and Cher’s relationship actually began as platonic.

Their first meeting was sometime in 1963 when Cher was 16 and Sonny was 27. They formed an immediate friendship and moved together into an apartment. First, they were just friends until getting together in 1975, even though they had already unofficially exchanged their vows in 1964.
