George Lucas is renowned in the entertainment industry as a producer, screenwriter, film director, and entrepreneur. His name spread worldwide after he created the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. He also founded LucasArts, Lucasfilm, and Industrial Light & Magic.
The 73-year-old billionaire has essentially retired from filmmaking after selling Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012. He traded it for $4.1 billion in stock and cash. Now, he focuses his time on philanthropy, with his charitable family foundation having over $1 billion in assets. In 2021, Los Angeles will see the opening of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, financed by Lucas and his spouse, Mellody Hobson.
