50 Years After Woodstock- People Are Sharing 30 Rare Photos From This Iconic Festival

Ami Ciccone Dec 16, 2019

It’s been five decades since the legend that was the 1969 Woodstock Festival, but it’s still viewed as a historical symbol of youth, rock music, and counter-culture. Deemed as the ultimate place-to-be, it is without a shadow of a doubt that Woodstock is the most impactful and iconic music-related event in history.

Over the last 50 years, concert organizers and producers have tried countless times to replicate the spirit of this classic 1969 festival. And yet, every single one failed. The Woodstock Festival was an unrepeatable moment in history, but it was luckily immortalized in the images we are about to show you.

No Age Limit For Love

The Woodstock Festival was never marketed as a family event, but it was filled with people of all ages. Visitors were mostly young men and women, but there were plenty of experienced party-goers and children on the concert grounds.

This little girl is enjoying herself as she dances with her eyes closed in the middle of the grass, probably to the sound of some psychedelic rock tune. A memorable image of hope that seems to carry an unmistakable Woodstock message: whether you’re an old man or a little girl, there’s always room for love!

Just Like a Big, Big Family

Sharing is caring, and this Woodstock moment captured in black-and-white is one of our favorites. A group of young girls is gathered inside a tent working hard to prepare a big meal for their fellow party-goers. They don’t care whether they’re strangers or not because, in the spirit of Woodstock, everyone is part of the same big happy family.

During the festival, the unexpectedly high number of visitors caused a shortage of resources, which means that the hard work of people like the girls depicted above was vital to ensure everyone was partying safely and with their bellies full. A good deed can go a long way!

Nature Gives Back

The Woodstock Festival took place in a relatively humble farm in Bethel, New York, and the visitors were keen on taking advantage of the farm animals around the area. But we don’t mean it in a bad way; after all, they were just trying to savor a delicious breakfast by milking this cow.

Fresh farm milk was a hit amongst the hungry Woodstock teenagers, as they lined-up for a chance of filling up their cups. The moment was forever captured by the lenses of a photographer, who was smart enough to realize that the action never stopped in Woodstock—not even during the mornings.
