Fans of Coronation Street’s Eileen Derbyshire were devastated upon the news of the passing of the actress’ husband of 56 years, Thomas Holt, who died earlier this year from Alzheimer’s. The British starlet managed to steal many hearts as Emily Bishop in the popular ITV sitcom.

Derbyshire began her career as an aspiring actress at the age of 17, appearing in several plays and radio broadcasts before her entry into television. After joining the cast of Coronation Street in 1961, she stayed on as a regular cast member, appearing in more than 2,500 episodes during her almost six-decade stint on the popular soap opera.
