
Despite being shut down for many years, Alcatraz Island remains notoriously infamous. Known as “The Rock,” this was once deemed impenetrable, a reputation built on the failed escape attempts of at least 36 prisoners. Each was either recaptured, shot, or lost to the unforgiving sea.
However, the narrative took a turn in June 1962 when three men dared and plunged into the icy waters of San Francisco Bay, chasing liberty. For decades, speculation was rife that they had succumbed to the brutal currents. Yet, a twist emerged 51 years later with the unearthing of a cryptic letter, prompting the FBI to revisit and question their long-held beliefs about the escapees’ fate.
